WHAT / WHY
A custom-made IG Story motion graphic & template that promoted the launch and subsequent episodes of the Triton Tools & Tidbits Podcast🡥.

📖 PROCESS
During the whirlwind timeline that was the
Triton Tools & Tidbits Podcast🡥, I also suggested the idea of creating a quick Motion Graphic
IG Story to use to help promote the episodes.
Knowing that I did not have a lot of time to prune keyframes or
illustrate intricate scenes, I had to find something that was:
1. Elegant enough to reflect the UC San Diego branding, and 2.
Engaging enough to keep eyes on the information at hand.
STEP ONE: GENERATING AN IDEA
Thematically, I had already been playing with the conceptual
metaphors of "walking into the dark unknown," following similar
remarks of remote learning being "unprecedented." So I created a
simple design that could be identified as flashlight turning on
into the dark.
I did a rough sketch before hopping quickly to create a mockup
in Illustrator and sending that off for approval. Once it got
the okay, it was on to importing into After Effects.

STEP TWO: PRODUCTION, IMPLEMENT, FEEDBACK
The production in After Effects went smoothly using a series of
brutal tools to get the job done. I had an export ready within a
night to get it checked for copywrite, and before I knew it, the
story was live with subsequent first podcast episode.
The VCSA Communications team eventually came back and asked for
other versions, as they wanted to deliver it as both an IG Story
and a Post itself. The fix was quick and simple, but effective
for each end location.
